Every Friday, we'll be highlighting a different member of the Across My Heart Team on social media to get to know each other a little bit better! Yes, we know it's only Thursday. But last week, we highlighted our Communications Coordinator, Emmarie Moon, so we thought we'd write a quick blog post to catch you up! Stay tuned for another introduction tomorrow!

What will people say… when they hear that I had an eating disorder and sometimes still struggle?
In reality, I’m sure that no one is surprised that I’m not perfect. But in my flesh, I desire to be thought of highly. If people know that I still struggle, then they won’t think I’m a good Christian. The flaws in these statements are twofold. These lies can only be debunked with the truth of the gospel that has the power to loosen the chains that binds us. Read on to find the truths that have helped me find freedom in Christ.
When the Christmas lights fade
What is it that draws our hearts to the beauty of Christmas? Why is it that we are so sad when it’s over? It’s not the overcrowded malls, or the message of Hallmark’s movies to find the “spirit of Christmas”, or even the delicious treats that come with the holiday. There is something so much deeper, so much more beautiful than our hearts realize.
Emotions: Can I Control Them?
We’ve all had days when life won’t let up. Days when when our circumstances just seem to drag us down. Days when we feel the brokenness of our world so keenly. On these days, the despair threatens to swallow us up. Our circumstances bring feelings of loneliness. Hopelessness. Negativity. Anger. Defeat. Stress. Rejection. Anxiety. Shame. Fear. Bitterness. Our emotions can blind us and tell us lies about our circumstances. It’s only when we encounter Jesus, the Truth, that we can be set free from these lies.

No, you are not perfect just the way you are – 1 Corinthians 12:9
We fail a lot. In fact, you could say it’s human nature to fail and to do so frequently. So how can we fail and be "perfect just the way we are" at the same time? Something seems off about that...
Why Self-Love Isn’t the Answer – Matthew 22:34-40
It’s wise to treat yourself kindly, to speak to yourself like you would a friend, and to love who God made you to be. You are stuck with yourself after all. However, so many young women’s ministries tell girls it’s imperative to love yourself. Tell yourself, "You are beautiful. You are worth it." Learn to love yourself! But, is loving yourself really the answer?
Clothing Ourselves With Strength and Dignity in a Sex Saturated Culture | Time for the Sex Talk
It was a Friday night and my mom and I were going to be the only family members at home, so we decided that it would be a good time to watch a chick flick. I grabbed my phone and pulled up my notes app where I had a list of movies that people had recommended. But before picking any random movie off the list, I looked up reviews about each movie to see if their content was wholesome (I’ve learned by now not to trust just any suggestion!). I read review after review and wasn’t comfortable with what I saw. I finally gave up and asked myself for what must have been the millionth time, are there any good chick flicks without a slew of sexual innuendos, dirty language, and scenes where women are portrayed as sex objects?
Lies We’ve Believed | I Need to Be Good Enough
I remember crying myself to sleep in high school because of a joke some boy I barely even knew had made about my weight. I was about seventeen at the time, but my struggle with the way I looked had begun much before that. I had always been a “normal-sized girl” growing up, until I hit puberty. That, plus all the junk food I consumed when I went away to boarding school, caused me to put on a lot of weight. It wasn’t until people began to notice that I realized what a large part of my identity was formed around the way I looked and even more so around the way that people saw me.
