Passionately Pursuing the Heart of God

The Right to Worry – Philippians 4:6-7

Posted on June 22, 2018 by Amber Impellizzeri

When I reflect on high school and college and all the ways I worried, I now see so clearly the peace worry robbed from me. I became a slave to my worry. That's not what God wants for us. He desires for us to walk in freedom from worry.

“God is asking me to save sex for marriage because He knows that is what is best for me – for my future marriage, for my relationships, for my own mental and physical health. God’s rules aren’t for controlling what I can and cannot do. They are for creating in me a heart that is after His heart and helping me live a life that is glorifying to Him.” Emmarie Moon Read more: What will people say when they find out I’m still a virgin? After my senior year of high school, a few of my friends and I went camping at my grandparents’ cabin on the Manistee River. We went on a two and a half hour kayak trip down the river just chatting and enjoying nature. We started playing truth or dare (you know, as is common of high schoolers). I got stuck on a tree and was a few yards behind my friends. As I caught up to them, I could hear my best friend say, “Don’t ask her that, I can already tell you the answer, it’s yes.” I became curious “What are you guys talking about? You can ask me.” After quite a bit of time arguing amongst themselves about whether or not it was a good idea to actually tell me what they were talking about, they posed the question: “Are you really going to stick to your whole purity ring thing? Like, you know, wait until you’re married to have sex?” Read link in bio: What will people say when they find out I’m still a virgin? #acrossmyheart #reclaimingpurity PC: @ontheheightsphotography
You’d think the counter-culture Christian life would say that an unborn child’s life has more value than one’s reputation, but sometimes the weight of shame convinces women their is only one way out. I realize every woman’s experience is different, and we don’t know each individual’s story, but I do know my mom’s story: It is the story of a young Christian girl who didn’t want to lose her boyfriend and agreed to have sex with him. The story of a girl living a double life and now stuck with a difficult decision to make. The story of how one life was ended to try and salvage another that was left in pieces. But praise God that the story doesn’t end there. Read article (link in bio) #acrossmyheart #forgivenandfree #prolife #prolifegeneration
They say you do crazy things for the people you love. Well, I love God. So I did something crazy. I quit my job in television production to pursue ministry. ••• I knew it wouldn’t make sense. And I wondered what people would say… Some may say I burned out. But that wouldn’t explain this burning passion for Jesus inside of me. ••• Some may say I’m making a mistake. But I’m taking a step of faith. ••• Some may call it settling. But God’s Word calls it serving. ••• I don’t want a better job or a more impressive job title. I already had that. What I want is more of God. (Link to blog in bio 👆) #acrossmyheart #followinggod #christianwomen #whatwillpeoplesay #wellwateredwomen
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." –Martin Luther King ••••• In our Scripture Reading Challenge this week, I came across the passage in The Sermon on the Mount where Jesus tells us not to hide our lamp under a bowl but to let our light shine for all to see. ••••• It never occurred to me before, but the lamps in Jesus’ time wouldn’t have been electrical lights with lightbulbs. No. They would have been candles. ••••• What happens when you put a bowl over a candle? It gets snuffed out. ••••• When we hide His light from the world, we are not only hurting our testimony. We are suffocating ourselves from the oxygen His goodness brings. We weren’t meant to hide. We were meant to shine. ••••• Matthew 5:16,”In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” #acrossmyheart #MLKDay #MartinLutherKingJrDay #scripturereadingplan #scripturereading #shine
Our #topnine is a random collection of blog graphics, group photos, and life moments that the Across My Heart team has shared over the past year. But there is one thing they have in common: a passionate pursuit of the heart or God. That was our mission in 2018 and our mission for another New Year! Thanks for #reclaimingpurity with us! We hope 2019 brings you closer to Gods heart as you write His Word across yours. #acrossmyheart
