Pro-life is Pro-choice

Chances are you’ve heard about the SCOTUS draft leak and the potential to overturn Roe V. Wade. The rumors are true! And those who are pro-life must continue to pray that the Supreme Court Justices would stand by their convictions to protect human life and officially publish their opinion.

In the mean time, the pro-abortion movement is busy fighting for the right to kill and screeching at the top of it’s lungs, “My body. My choice.”

The irony is that the pro-life movement is pro-choice too. We just disagree on who gets a choice and when that choice occurs.

Across My Heart Ministries

The pro-abortion movement believes that only women should have a choice.

The pro-life movement believes every human, including the baby in the womb, should have a choice.

We believe that a woman makes her choice when she consents to have sex. Every act of natural sexual intercourse has the potential to create life. That’s biology. That’s how it works.

The pro-abortion movement, however, does not see sexual consent as a sufficient choice. They do not see pregnancy as the natural consequence of sexual consent but as an unfair punishment (as evidenced by Kamala Harris’ tweet).

Not only does the pro-abortion movement take choice away from the baby, but they fail to acknowledge a woman’s responsibility or choice at the point of sexual consent. How insulting! We are intelligent enough to make our own choices and be responsible for the consequences of those decisions. A woman’s choice was made when she consented to sex. We aren’t a “victim” of pregnancy, except in the rare cases of impregnation from the force of rape (which accounts for 1% of abortions according to Guttmacher Institute). We are always responsible, no matter how difficult, for our choices.

It’s true that some women seek abortions out of mere convenience, but many more seek abortions out of hopelessness. And a hopeless woman does not need to be given the chance to kill. She needs access to proper resources! She needs to know she has hope! According to Live Action, there are 23 federally qualified health centers and 5 pregnancy resource centers for every 1 Planned Parenthood Facility. We need to be directing women to these resources that will help them choose life!

That’s why I will no longer refer to the pro-abortion movement as pro-choice. They are pro-abortion. And pro-failure-to-take-responsibility. If they, however, would like to call me pro-choice, they are more than welcome to do so.

*In the coming weeks you will continue to hear a lot of talk about abortion, and I encourage you to keep steadfastly praying! If you or someone you know has had an abortion, know that God is ready to forgive! You can find true freedom and healing in Jesus Christ. A few years ago, Mandi shared her mom’s post-abortive testimony to encourage women. You can read it here.*
